Why you should switch to silicone-free

What are silicones?

They are polymers that coat the hair follicle, to give a feeling of smooth hair, however, they also diminish nourishment getting in, and hair may become dry and brittle over time. Silicones also build up in the hair and over time this means your hair gets weighed down, may appear greasy, dull, and may need washing more frequently. Many are not water soluble so may be difficult to wash out. Also they have no natural affinity with human hair.

Silicones come in many forms and end in 'cone' such as dimethicone, cetyl dimethicone, cetearyl methicone, dimethiconol, stearyl dimethicone, cyclomethicone, amodimethicone, trimethylsilylamodimethicone, and cyclopentasiloxane. They are a cheap ingredient.
